The direction of this scheme was determined by the clients’ brief that she wanted to keep the heavily painted black parquet floors and the white walls.
We decided to soften this with lots of rich textiles and warm colours in the sitting room which was kicked off by the beautiful colours in the Swedish kilim we sourced.
The client was not afraid to use strong colour and pattern and was keen to invest in furniture that would hold its value and withstand a fair amount of wear and tear from a large family and friends descending into a relatively small space en masse.
We installed a reclaimed fireplace in the sitting room and sourced vintage lighting and occasional tables for books and glasses to ensure the rooms felt warm and welcoming at night.
A dramatic black splashback was added in the kitchen, classic Bertoia chairs and a marble topped Saarinen table lend the apartment an understated metropolitan feel.
